Special education is the application of research driven techniques and strategies to support all learners with special needs. Individualised services designed to specifically meet the needs of adults and children that have difficulty coping with the acquisition of new skills, remembering skills or information or applying information learned in an effective way. Whether the client has a sensory impairment, learning disability or attention deficit, we are trained to offer support for individuals, schools as well as corporate agencies:
- IEP DEVELOPMENT, SUPPORT AND SUPERVISION: Development of an Individualized Education Plan is the best way for the client to achieve their optimal potential. When aims and objectives are clearly agreed on and worked on using timelines, strategies and skills, it helps the client to have a clear direction in which theu are going and what they may be expected to accomplish in a given or agreed time frame. The plan is designed around what is important to the client and their needs and capabilities. It often includes other professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Physiotherapists.
- HOME PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT, SUPPORT AND SUPERVISION: Home programming planning, development, support and supervision is provided for short term or long term. Whether the client is being home schooled or goes to a special school and is still in need of a supportive home programme, we can deisgn the programme and train the parent and caregiver to carry out the programme. Supervision may also be provided as an optional support service. Through Edutherapy Limited, our home programme development and support are provided for both children and adults in your home setting.
- STUDY SKILLS TRAINING: Learning style screening is carried out before proceeding to developing a personalized study skills training programmes for individuals. Most people are not aware of what their specific learning style is or if they have a combination. At Edutherapy we screen to determine the style the individual learns best, and then help them to develop strategies to work and study independently using effective tools and techniques to cope with information and test-taking. Edutherapy Limited provides workshops and seminars for individuals and small groups for both children and adults at the tertiary level.
